How to Perform

  1. 1

    Lean forward and support yourself with one hand on a table or chair.

  2. 2

    Let your affected arm hang freely toward the floor.

  3. 3

    Gently swing your arm in small circles – clockwise, then counterclockwise.

    Tip: Let gravity do the work – do not use shoulder muscles to create the movement.
  4. 4

    Repeat for 30 seconds in each direction, then gently swing front-to-back and side-to-side.

Safety Tips

Keep movements small and gentle – larger is not better.
Do not swing the arm forcefully.
Stop if you experience sharp shoulder pain.
This exercise should feel comfortable and relaxing.
