Learn moreFrequently Asked Questions
When can I start straight leg raises after knee surgery?
Straight leg raises are typically one of the first exercises prescribed after knee surgery, often starting within 24-48 hours post-surgery. Your surgeon or physiotherapist will advise you on the exact timing based on your specific procedure and recovery progress.
Why is my leg shaking during straight leg raises?
Shaking or trembling during straight leg raises indicates muscle fatigue or weakness in the quadriceps. This is normal, especially after surgery or injury. It will improve with consistent practice. If shaking is severe, reduce the number of repetitions and build up gradually.
How many straight leg raises should I do per day?
A typical recommendation is 3 sets of 10 repetitions on each leg, performed 2-3 times per day. After surgery, your physiotherapist may recommend more frequent sessions with fewer repetitions. Always follow your specific rehabilitation program.
